To Home of the Underdogs fans: you may have noticed that the URL www.the-underdogs.org hasn’t been working for over a month now. Initiallly I thought it would be a temporary problem that would take only 3-4 days to fix, because I have paid for this domain name until February 2007 – Register.com has suspended my account because neither the e-mail nor the credit card I used to register that domain is valid, and I have lost my password so I can’t access the account. They asked me to fax identification papers (e.g. passport pages), which I did twice in 48 hours. This was about 3 weeks ago. After waiting for about a week, I still heard no response from Register.com, so I decided to call them up. The customer service person said he would ‘look into it,’ and confirm that they DID receive my fax; I just had to wait for some department to re-activate my account.

I waited one more week. Nothing happened. So I decided to register an alternate URL, www.the-underdogs.info (stupidly with Register.com again) using my current e-mail address. For some very strange and infuriating reason, that domain doesn’t redirect to our site either 🙁 As I am leaving in 11 hours for a weeklong trip to Bhutan, I am sorry to tell you guys that I won’t be able to solve this domain headache until at least April 18th. But I WILL definitely have a long talk with Register.com and get this sorted once I come back. As far as I know, the www.the-underdogs.org domain hasn’t been “sold” to anyone else, so I should still be able to get it back.

The site IS alive and well: you can still access our IP directly at http://209.120.136.195/ and post in the forum at http://209.120.136.195/forum/. My apologies again to HOTU fans – I know I have been slow about this, but what with being involved in (very tiring) political rallies in Thailand, being unemployed again, and getting a book (in Thai) published, I unfortunately had very little time for HOTU (and Register.com’s lack of attention didn’t help, either). And yes, I am considering getting a co-webmaster to help maintain the site, but first I need to sort out these technical problems.

Thank you in advance for your understanding, and please spread the word that we are not dead 🙂
