This is simply awesome 🙂 (Thanks to Suksit.com) Apparently, it’s a not-so-efficient version of Napier’s Bones, a cool kind of abacus I came across years ago in a small math-based toy store in Boston, but didn’t have enough money to buy it.
This video reminds me of cool instructions on how to manually find a square root I came across weeks ago.
Calculators and computers do make our lives so much more convenient than in the manual-only days, but sometimes I do miss the romance of “finding things out the hard way” 🙂
